Founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC in 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-trained women. To trace its history is to tell a story of changing patterns of human relations in America in the 20th century.
Programs are at the heart of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Pi Kappa Omega continues in the legacy of “Service to all Mankind” through its involvement in community and sorority programs on a local, national, and international level. Pi Kappa Omega programs are aligned with the focus of the current administration’s Global Leadership Through Timeless Service platform through MLK Day of Service, Pink Goes Red for a Day, Greater Harlem Nursing Home initiatives and others.
